Campus Auga was the first specialization initiative of a non-central campus of the Galician University System (SUG). The setting up of this project meant for the Ourense Campus to be a pioneering scientific space in the specialization process and to fulfill the objective of promoting its uniqueness and differentiation by enhancing its capacities, fostering strategic collaborations and taking advantage of the resources of the immediate environment.
At the beginning of the Campus Auga specialization process, the Strategic Plan was approved, whose main focus was on:
- Establish the Campus Auga as a recognized leader in education, research and transfer of results related to water
- Achieve greater exchange of knowledge and innovation with relevant local, regional (Euroregional), state and international communities
- Achieve greater capacity to secure sustainable financing in support of critical functions such as education, research, internationalization, extension services and technology commercialization
